In spot welding two panels 1, 2 together one margin 1a of the first panel 1 is bent to make an acute angle with the first panel, one margin 2a of the second panel 2 is bent, the two panels are placed together so that the bent margin 2a of the second panel is located in the angle formed by the bent margin 1a of the first panel and the first panel with the edge of the bent margin of the second panel in contact with the bent margin of the first panel and the two bent margins are spot welded together. The margin 1a of the first panel 1 is bent through 135 degrees and the margin 2a of the second panel 2 is bent through 90 degrees and the upper electrode 3 may be chisel shaped while the lower electrode 4 is flat ended. The second panel 2 may be of galvanized metal and the parts may form a motor vehicle door, boot lid, bonnet or wing. |
