A vehicle body consists of a sheet metal skeleton to which the external wall parts consisting of plastic are attached. The outer surface of the vehicle body is formed between the belt line and the roof as far as the rear door exclusively from window panes, which are firmly attached to the outer faces of their frames and, with the exception of functional gaps, abut against one another in a flush manner. As a result, a smooth, uninterrupted side face is formed which contributes to a reduction in the air drag coefficient and in the relative wind noise.
