PURPOSE:To immediately detect misretrieval generated at the transfer of an information recording medium at a speed exceeding the upper limit speed by stopping the transfer of the recording medium when two output signals or more are continuously inputted from a detector to a counter means before the counter means is reset by a comparison end signal outputted from a comparing means. CONSTITUTION:When a pulse signal is outputted from the detector during the rapid traveling of a film, the counter 25 start counting, and if a comparison end signal is inputted from a comparator 24 to the counter 25 and the counter 25 is reset, said checking operation is repeated. If two output pulse signals or more are continuously inputted from the detector 22 to the counter 25 on the way of counting before a comparison end reset pulse signal is inputted from the comparator 25 to the counter 25, a signal is sent from the counter 25 to a speed control circuit 26, motors 5, 11 are stopped to stop the transfer of the microfilm and an error is displayed simultaneously with the stop of the film.
