PURPOSE:To prevent air from remaining in a film of a coating material packed in the joint of pipes, by providing a means for connecting the gap in the joint to the space in the pipe in front of a packer while an annular space formed between two bowl-shaped bodies is held disposed in the joint. CONSTITUTION:A means for connecting the joint A' of pipes to the space in the pipe in front of a packer B in a part of the circumference of said joint while the annular space (a) formed of a front bowl-shaped body 1 and a rear bowl-shaped body 2 consisting of elastic materials along the inside surface of the pipe A is held communicated with the joint A', for example, a hollow groove 15 extending in the forward and backward direction on the front surface of the body 1 over approximately the entire length thereof is provided. A material 7 for forming a coating film is supplied into the space (a) and at the beginning of packing of the material in the joint A', the remaining air is discharged from the hollow groove 15 of the body 1 into the space in the pipe in front of the packer B. The remaining air in the joint and the material for forming the coated film are thus thoroughly replaced.
