PURPOSE:To provide the titled emulsion preparation useful as an erythrocyte substitute for mammals and perfusion liquid for the storage of organs in organ transplantation, storable stably for a long period, and excreted easily from the body, by using a specific perfluoro-compound as an oxygen carrier component. CONSTITUTION:The objective O/W-type emulsion is prepared by dispersing the compound of formula (R is perfluoromethyl or perfluoroethyl), e.g. perfluoro-4- methyloctahydroquinolidine, as an oxygen carrier component, in a physiological saline water, lactated Ringer's solution, etc. using a polymeric nonionic surface active agent (molecular weight: 2,000-20,000) as an emulsifier. The amount of the compound of formula is 5-50W/V%, preferably 10-40W/V%, and that of the emulsifier is 1-5W/V%. The components are mixed together in arbitrary order to obtain a course emulsion, which is homogenized with a proper homogenizer to a particle size of <=0.3mu, preferably <=0.2mu. |
