PURPOSE:To simplify the handling of a VTR containing several recording systems, by recording the identification signal on a magnetic tape in response to the sound recording system to detect the identification signal at the time of reproduction and selecting a reproducing function corresponding to the detected identification signal. CONSTITUTION:A recording/reproducing changeover switch SW4 is connected to a terminal (b) at the time of sound recording, and a control circuit 18 controls the switch SW4. Each sound recording system is designated to a recording system designation input terminal 19 of the circuit 18, and either one of gate switches SW1-SW3 conducts in response to the designated recording system. Then either one of corresponding frequencies f1-f3 is recorded to a control area 4 of a magnetic tape. The switch SW4 is set at the (a) side at the time reproduction, and the frequencies f1-f3 of the area 4 are detected by the circuit 18 in the form of identification signals. Then the circuit 18 performs reproduction in accordance with one of three recording systems 1-3 corresponding to the detected signal. |
