Antilock brake system for an air-operated hydraulic wheel brake, the brake unit provided for normal braking and with a control compressed air/hydraulic pressure medium changeover being followed downstream by a compressed-air modulator unit, by which the direct hydraulic line connection from the master brake cylinder of the brake unit to the individual wheel brake cylinders is monitored by means of a compressed-air control unit under the effect of ABS.
