This bed or playpen comprises two pairs of legs 1, 2 articulated on two clevices (stirrup pieces) 3 and which are able to move closer together from a divergent position to a position in which they are folded one on the other, two lower frames 5 articulated at their centres and which carry two bases 6, and two pairs of bars 7, 8 articulated on the clevices (stirrup pieces) and which it is possible to raise in a horizontal position or to push down, the ends of each pair of bars 7, 8 being connected via U-shaped elements 9, 10 which slide telescopically in the bars and which are connected together via small rods 12 and levers 14, 15 so as to be able to retract or automatically extend when the bed is folded up or unfolded. <IMAGE>
