Films and articles of high mol. wt polyester are produced by the selective enrichment of the reaction mixt with an additional amt of chemical combinations catalysing the transesterification process, the cation of the combination being an alkali or alkaline earth metal, the addition being effected before, during or at the end of the transesterification reaction, and by the adequate addition of a thermostabilising substance before, during or at the end of the reaction, with simultaneous abstention of the addition of further cation to the polycondensation. The films etc. have non-adherent properties, as a result of precipitates produced in an oriented manner in the polyester. The films etc have uniform, reproducible.
