A protective seal unit for retaining grease in, and excluding abrasive particles from a track pin connecting two or more links, which, when connected together, form an endless crawler track for a track laying vehicle. The seal includes first and second collar members, each having radially and axially extending flanges and an elastromeric torsional deflection sealing element extending between the two radially extending flanges, connecting the two collars, and being spaced apart from the axially extending portions of the collars. Each collar is held in fixed relation relative to the link member with which it is associated, and the links are oscillated in relation to each other when the track moves over a drive sprocket or an idler.
