A device for UV short-distance irradiation has radiation generators (16) in a housing space (2). This space is delimited by a radiation-permeable plate (3). At least one blower (9) which emits heated air through exit orifices (13) is provided for cooling purposes. The exit orifices (13) point to the region on that side of the plate (3) which faces away from the housing space (2). They can be, in particular, arranged on the inside of the frame (4) on that side of the plate (3) which faces away from the housing space. <IMAGE>
