DETECTING METHOD AND APPATATUS FOR ACETIC ACID

PURPOSE:To detect acetic acid in a fluid to be inspected without special skill by coloring in bluish green by reacting acetic acid in the fluid upon copper to form a copper sulfate. CONSTITUTION:As a liquid to be inspected runs into a transparent outer tube 1B in a detector section 1 from a hole 2a providing on an introduction tube 2. The liquid being inspected is introduced upward due to a capillary action of a fibrous or porous material IC. When acetic acid is contained in the liquid being inspected, it reacts upon a copper pipe 1A to form a copper sulfate, which develops bluish green color on the outer surface of the copper pipe 1A. Observing the bluish green coloring condition enables the detectin of acetic acid contained in the liquid being inspected.
