According to this method, the upper surface (7) of the projecting part (8) is lined with a protective layer (9) formed of a coating adhering to the stone, which coating is waterproof but permeable to the diffusion of vapour, and there is set up, along the front edge of the protected part, a border element (12) which is narrower than this protected part and connected in a sealed manner to the protective layer and protruding forwards from the projecting part (8) so as to form a hood-mould device (13) at the front of the latter. This method applies to the protection of projecting facade parts, such as a window string course, cornice, sill or covering, made of natural or artificial stone. <IMAGE>
