PURPOSE:To enhance abrasion resistance, durability, antistatic properties, and traveling stability, and further, electromagnetic conversion characteristics, by forming a resin layer contg. titanium monoxide and a powder having >=6 Mohs' hardness on the surface of a base reverse to a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of 7pts.wt. TiO having 0.01-1mum average particle diameter, 3pts.wt. alpha-A2O3 having 0.01-1mum average particle diameter, 5pts.wt. cellulose nitrate, 10pts.wt. binder, such as polyurethane elastomer, 25pts.wt. methyl ethyl ketone, and 10pts.wt. cyclohexanone is sufficiently mixed and dispersed in a sand mill, and the surface of the base opposite to a layer coated with a magnetic material is coated with this mixed soln. to give a prescribed thickness, such as 1mum, and dried. The resin layer contg. TiO is preferably 0.1- 2mum thick. The layer thus obtd. is left e.g. at 60 deg.C for 24hr to carry out hardening reaction, and then, slit to 1/2 inch width, thus obtaining, for example, a magnetic tape for use in a video tape recorder. |
