PURPOSE:To perform inexpensively and easily the cutting and edge preparation of a square pipe by mounting a guide rail having the shape resembling to the outside shape of the square pipe to the square pipe and moving a torch along the guide rail thereby cutting diagonally the square pipe from the outside. CONSTITUTION:A moving base 2 connected with a diagonal cutting torch 32 by a beam 33 is installed by means of guide rolls 21, 22, 23 to a guide rail 1 having the shape resembling to the outside shape of a square pipe to be cut. The distance between the square pipe and the rail 1 is adjusted by a mounting means 11, and the cutting position for the torch 32 is determined by a gear means 33a. A switch 51 is then operated to rotate a pinion gear 24 and the base 2 is moved at a set speed along the rail 2 to cut successively diagonally the square pipe by the torch 32. When the base 2 approaches to the arc part of the rail 1, the movement of the base is speeded up by a speed up control device 53 in accordance with a sign 53a so that the speed of the torch 32 with respect to the surface of the square pipe is maintained constant. The cutting and edge preparation are simultaneously accomplished by the above-mentioned method. |
