The subject of the invention is a wall or ceiling covering made of wood, particle-board or plastic panels, in which fastening clips engage at given spacings into the grooves of opposite panels. Spring plates connected in one piece to the fastening clips on top or underneath the latter extend in the direction of the connecting seam. By inserting a spring strip into the groove of one panel and pulling it across into the groove of the other panel, and also as a result of the spring force of the spring plate, the spring strip is pressed against the outer groove cheek, so that a firm and clean junction results. By pushing out the spring strip, trouble-free replacement of individual, even centrally arranged, panels or a plurality of panels of a panel field is possible.
