Mfr. of bags with handle holes is carried out by cutting a continuously moving flat tube of thermoplastic film into two halves along an undulating cutting line which extends through the longitudinal centre line and of which the portions on both sides of the longitudinal centre line are symmetrical to and staggered from each other by half a bag width. At least one of the halves is deflected along a path comprising half a bag width, and welded with a transverse seam. The flaps formed by the undulating cut and protruding beyond the edges of the bag opening are turned back in opposite directions onto the tube walls to which they are fixed, and simultaneously with welding, handle holes extending through the turned flaps are punched out of the bags. |
