PURPOSE:To obtain the titled novel foam useful as decorative laminated boards, filters, etc., by extruding and expanding a resin composition containing a highly crystalline polyolefin resin, a mixed resin of polystyrene with poly-1,4-trans butadiene and a foaming agent. CONSTITUTION:(A) 25-75pts.wt. highly crystalline polyolefin resin, (B) a mixed resin and/or copolymerized resin of polystyrene with poly-1,4-trans butadiene, preferably (20:1)-(1:1) ratio between the styrene component and the butadiene component, (C) a foaming agent and if necessary a nucleating agent, e.g. talc or calcium chloride, are hot molten in an extruder, kneaded and then extruded to give the aimed foam. In mixing the resins (A) with (B), a small amount of a dispersing agent, e.g. an ester of a higher fatty acid, is preferably added thereto. EFFECT:Very high fibrillation degree and improved strength. |
