PURPOSE:To make the connection work of submarine optical cables easy, the juncture smaller in size and the construction thereof simple by coupling tensile bodies to each other by means of a caulking sleeve. CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber cores 31 for optical coupling are spliced to each other by a sleeve method or the like, and a thick-walled metallic pipe 33 is put on the juncture; further, a caulking sleeve 34 is inserted onto the same. Since the through-holes 34a having the diameter after compression roughly equal to the outside diameter of tensile bodies 13 and having the same number as the number of the bodies 13 are formed to the sleeve 34, the bodies 13 of the submarine optical cables are inserted into the holes 34a from the right and left, and compressive force is applied on the sleeve 34 from the outside thereof to caulk the sleeve. The bodies 13 are deformed together with the holes 34a by the cauling, and with the caulking sleeve 34 as an intermediate body, the tensile bodies 13 of the two submarine optical cables are coupled to each other. |
