ALUMINIUM ELECTROLYSIS CELL

Electrolysis cell for extracting aluminium having a cell base formed of graphite blocks. Current supply leads comprising graphite rods are passed through the cell walls and fit into recesses in the end faces of the graphite blocks. Preferably, the parts are screwed together. The matching of the material of the cell base and the current supply leads prevents mechanical stresses in the base induced by changes in temperature and prolongs the service life of the electrolysis cell.
