A process for the preparation of doped, heteroaromatic polymers containing 5-membered rings, by reacting low-molecular-weight heterocyclic compounds containing a 5-membered ring with nitronium or nitrosonium salts, optionally in inert organic solvents, at temperatures of from -20 DEG C to +80 DEG C or up to the boiling point of the solvent, and the doped, heteroaromatic polymers containing 5-membered rings obtained by this process.
