FR-900156, a cancer-curing agent, was produced by Streptlomyces species. Thus, a preculture of s. olivaceogrieseus c-353 (ATCC-31427) was inoculated into a fermn. medium contg. soluble starch, cotton meal, dried yeast, CSL, KH2PO4, CoCl26H2O, Na2HPO412H2O, and water. After 72 hrs. at 30≦̸C, mycelium of rhe broth was removed and treated with acetone. This soln. was chromatograghed over DEAE-Sephadex, CM-Sephades(H+typeand Sephadex G-15 to give crystallin FR-900156.
