The invention relates to a method and circuit arrangement for eliminating interference from switching codes transmitted in the form of PCM words. By means of a single last look comparison with the PCM code word which arrived one period previously, errors due to bit corruption are suppressed, and by means of at least one subsequent multiple last look comparison with PCM code words which arrived a corresponding plurality of periods previously, longer-lasting interference, e.g. due to contact chatter, is suppressed.
