PURPOSE:To prevent hot cracking and blowholes of weld metal and improve toughness in one-layer vertical welding, by oscillating and agitating molten metal by a magnetic field generated by exciting coils provided on a pair of straps and welding current. CONSTITUTION:In electroslag, electrogas and slag arc welding methods, the figure shows a welding wire 1, a slag bath 2, an arc 3, weld metal 4, a pair of copper straps 5, a feeding chip 6 and a wire feeding roll 7. Further, the figure shows a welding power source 8, a base metal steel plate 9, a tub plate 10, weld metal 11 and cooling water 12 for straps 5. Exciting coils are wound around a pair of iron cores 14 provided on the straps 5 and alternating exciting current of 1-30Hz is applied by an exciting power source 16. Weld metal 4 is oscillated and agitated by the magnetic field and Lorentz's force generated by DC welding current from the welding power source 8. By this way, grain refining of the weld metal 11 is executed and object is attained. |
