摘要 <p>Slag forming during oxygen converter refining of pig iron is monitored by (i) measuring the sound intensity in a first frequency band for determining the moment when the foamed slag reaches the lance; (ii) continuously measuring the sound intensity in a second frequency band for determining the moment when the foamed slag reaches a level near the lip of the converter; and (iii) modifying the blowing conditions to avoid overflow of foamed slag. Pref. the frequency band in (i) is 150-1000 (pref. 300-500) Hz and that in (ii) is 5-40 (pref. 15-30) Hz. Method provides simple and accurate monitoring of foaming.</p>
