<p>PURPOSE:To effectively prevent a strip from meandering, by adjusting the distribution of the tension of a strip in the width direction of the strip by slanting the looper roll of a looper in a vertical plane in accordance with the movement in the width direction of the strip running through stands. CONSTITUTION:In a tandem rolling mill equipped with a looper 8 between its rolling stands, a looper roll 4 of the looper 8 is slanted in a vertical plane in accordance with the movement of a strip 1 in the direction of the width of the strip 1 running through the rolling stands to adjust the distribution of the tension of strip in the direction of its width.
