Subscriber communication channel equipment is switched to a stand-by-state if they are not operated. In the stand-by-state only those components are fully operative which are necessary for switch-over to the normal operation state. The switch-over to the operation-state is effected by a logic signal "ON" which connects the supply voltage to a parallel/series- converter 2 which transmits together with the data stream D, a bit timing signal BT to an electro-optical-converter 3. After detecting the bit timing signal BT the electro-optical-converter 3 is switched on and the light signal is transmitted on an optical fibre transmission line to an opto-electrical- converter 4. After detecting the light signal the opto-electrical-converter 4 sends data and bit timing signals to a series/parallel-converter 5. After detecting the bit timing signals the series/parallel-converter 5 is switched on. <IMAGE> |
