PURPOSE:To surely detect the double sheet of paper sheets in a discriminator discriminating the paper sheet of plural kinds such as a note, by providing a reference value of the double sheet corresponding to each paper sheet and comparing the value with data of the paper sheet at discrimination. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with conveyance of paper sheets such as a note, a detection signal from a magnetic sensor HD1 is amplified and shaped with a waveform in a waveform shaper circuit 50 then output as a timing pulse TP. While a signal PD in accordance with a quantity of permeable light of the conveyed paper sheet is obtained from a photosensor PS2, input to an A/D converter 57 via an amplifier 55 and converted to a digital signal corresponding to a level of the signal PD. A timing pulse output during the passing of this paper sheet through the sensor PS2 is counted, and a kind of the paper sheet is decided from its counted value to read a stored output of the converter 57 and perform arithmetic operation. The result is compared with a reference value of the double sheet stored in a ROM41 to enable the detection of the double sheet. |
