PURPOSE:To normally make a labyrinth clearance constant, by a method wherein, in a gas seal in which fluid is jetted in a labyrinth part for sealing, the labyrinth part is constituted such that a labyrinth surface follows deviation of a shaft. CONSTITUTION:A rubber labyrinth 3 is located around a rotary shaft 1, and the labyrinth 3 is provided at a part therearound with an annular hollow chamber 4, a partition 7 axially partitioning the annular hollow chamber 4, and partitions 8a-8d partitioning in a peripheral direction the side, facing the labyrinth 3, of the annular hollow chamber partitioned by the partition 7. Gas fed through a gas feed pipe 12 is guided to a common gas reservoir 5, and reaches divided gas gathering chambers 6a-6d via through holes 10a-10d formed in the partition 7. Further the gas, gathering in each of the divided gas chambers 6a-6d, is communicated through gas exhaust holes 18a-18d to labyrinth through holes 9a- 9d communicated to the rotary shaft 1 and is exhausted. |
