The irrigation valve device for potted plants which is described is used to restrict the level of the water in the saucer of the plant pot, which is fed by the valve directly into the saucer. It has an elongate swellable body which controls a valve as a function of its moisture content, is subject to the influence of the water passing through the valve and is retained by a valve body, and, in order to permit the vertically adjustable fixing of one end of the swellable body in the vicinity of the bottom of the saucer, a retaining device.
