RECOGNIZING METHOD OF HAND-WRITTEN LINEAR PATTERN

PURPOSE:To recognize a linear pattern written with an optional number of strokes in an optional order of making strokes in writing, by selecting pattern information which gives a minimum degree of difference between the coordinate sequence of an input stroke row and that of a candidate standard stroke row. CONSTITUTION:A preprocessing device 2 normalizes the size of a linear pattern transmitted from a linear pattern information input device 1 and transmits it to an end point corresponding device 4 and a calculating device 7 for the degree of difference between strokes. The device 4 allows each end point of the input stroke row to correspond to one of candidate end points transmitted from a standard pattern accumulating device 3. A candidate standard stroke row generating device 5 generates a candidate standard stroke row on a basis of outputs from devices 4 and 3. Accordinate value sequence synthesizing device 6 generates a coordinate sequence of the candidate standard stroke row. The device 7 obtains the degree of difference between the coordinate sequence of the input stroke row and that of the candidate standard stroke row. A minimum difference degree detecting circuit 8 selects the name of a pattern giving a minimum degree of difference by repeating said operation and outputs it as the recognition result.
