PURPOSE:To eliminate unnecessary increase in seeking time during large track seeking and to shorten the mean access time of a magnetic disk device, by determining to the optimum a servo access system with a means which does not fixes a target speed curve according to the extent of seeking in every seeking operation to reset the target speed curve for the magnetic disk device. CONSTITUTION:In a figure, an x-x' curve generator 2 generates a target speed corresponding to the remaining number of tracks supplied from a remaining track counter 2 according to the target speed curve set by a target speed curve selector 3. The difference between a current target speed and the actual speed of a head carriage 6 detected by a speed detector 7 is detected by a speed error detector 4. A voice coil motor as a driving source for the head carriage 6 is driven by a power amplifier 5 so that the speed error is compensated. Thus, the head carriage 6 and a head mounted thereupon move at a speed following up the target speed curve set by the selector 3 to seek a desired track position. |
