To faciliate the loading of tow bar boxes used on caravans to date and having lids which must be opened from the top, making loading more difficult, the tow bar box is provided with a sliding front which permits the entire front to be opened. In this process, the tow bar box and the sliding front are in each case provided with an upper and a lower guide rail and a sliding rail between them.
