PURPOSE:To obtain an easy-to-manufacture liquid fuel electrode where the activity of a catalyst for the liquid fuel cell can be drawn out sufficiently, by employing such structure where a porous conductive substrate adhered with catalyst powder and an electrolyte holder are integrated as the liquid fuel electrode. CONSTITUTION:A methanol electrode employs an ion exchange film 1 having holes smaller than the grain size of catalyst as the electrolyte holder 1 while that having holes smaller than the grain size of catalyst where fluororesin is emploed as binder as a porous carbon paper 4a, then catalyst is applied on the ion exchange film 1 side and laminated with the ion exchange film 1 to form a catalyst layer 2. Since binder is not mixed with the catalyst of the methanol electrode, the entire catalyst will concern with the reaction to draw out the activity of catalyst sufficiently, while since drying, burning, etc. are not required the manufacture is facilitated. Said method is adaptable on a hydragin air fuel cell to provide similar effect. |
