To produce a moulding of carbon fibre-reinforced carbon with an amorphous carbon coating on the basic body thereof, a layer is first formed on a mould surface from an at least viscous blend of pulverised carbon with a curable binder, especially a synthetic resin, and this layer is, already after the subsequent curing and/or after the application of carbon fibre material impregnated with the same binder for moulding of the basic body, and the curing thereof (or of these together), carbonised by means of heat together with the former.
