PURPOSE:To improve resolution and gradient and to output a half tone picture, by providing the titled device with a controlling means to control a prescribed picture element in accordance with the periphery of the prescribed picture element. CONSTITUTION:An input device 61 converts two-dimensional picture information into a one-dimensional luminous signal. The one-dimensional luminous signal is converted into a digital variable by an A/D converter 65 and then the digital signal is stored in a frame memory 69 for one picture. A CPU81 decides the matrix size of the picture element information in each picture element in the frame memory 69 and stores the matrix size in the frame memory 69 again. Namely, a fine picture part and a crude picture part are outputted as the picture elements of the small matrix size and the large matrix size respectively, so that resolution and gradient are improved. Said output signals are outputted to an output part 91 through a line memory 99. |
