WORKING METHOD OF DIAMOND TOOL HAVING SHARP POINTED END

PURPOSE:To make the radius of curvature at the tip of a diamond tool small without damaging the diamond, by making the ion current of positive charge incident to the tip in parallel with the axis of the diamond tool supported vertically from above said tool thereby finishing the end sharply. CONSTITUTION:A holder 2 formed with a circumferential wall 2a in the upper circumference is erected on a working base 3, and a diamond tool 1 of which the top to be finished sharp is preworked roughly to the finishing degree is supported vertically in the holder 2. The ion current of positive charge is made incident to the tip of the tool 1 in parallel with the axis of the tool from above to work the tip sharply. The tool is thus worked to the sharp tip having 0.2- 0.5mu radius of curvature without roughening the surface while maintaining the linearily of the ridgeline.
