In a process and a device for producing a strewing sieve from plastic by injection moulding, material sections are removed by a punching operation to form the holes of the strewing sieve. Directly following the punching operation, the material sections are again moved back into the holes where they are each held by friction so that each hole represents a seat for a closure plug formed by the material section, which closure plug can be removed in a simple manner by the user of the container provided with the strewing sieve. Production and reclosing of the holes can be carried out in a special punching die after production of the strewing sieve body. However, particularly for large series, it is possible to provide the injection mould itself with a corresponding punching die.
