PURPOSE:To prepare L-glutamic acid in high yeild, by cultivating a bacterium belonging to the genus Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium having strengthened superoxide dismutase activity. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium such as Brevibacterium lactofermentum AJ11796 (FERM-P6402) belonging to the genus Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium, obtained by variation treatment from a bacterium capable of producing L-glutamic acid, having resistance to a superoxide producing agent, superoxide dismutate induction inhibitor, superoxide radical reaction promotor, or oxidizing agent to feed oxygen for forming superoxide is cultivated in a nutritive medium under aerobic conditions, and L-glutamic acid is collected from the culture solution. |
