The measuring instrument has a housing (12) with a measuring chamber (17). Arranged in the measuring chamber is a wall (35) which can be moved by means of the variation of a force acting on it. Arranged on the wall (35) is a piezoelectric crystal (53) which outputs an analog voltage corresponding to the displacement of the wall (35). The crystal (53) is a part of an electric circuit which is fed by a battery (45) in the housing. Furthermore, a switch is provided via which an A/D converter (61) is supplied with voltage. The A/D converter (61) converts the output voltage of the crystal (53) into a digital signal, in order to display the measured value in digital fashion. This measuring instrument can, e.g., be used for pressure measurement, the instrument being small and compact and having a low consumption of electrical energy. <IMAGE>
