The invention relates to a motor vehicle with a tail gate which closes off a loading space or passenger space. In order to increase the floor area in a simple manner and without changing the motor vehicle to a large degree when using the motor vehicle as a dormobile or mobile home, there is provision according to the invention for a U-shaped extension part to be inserted between the rear opening and the tail gate, which part lengthens with its centre part the floor of the loading space or passenger space and with its side parts closes the intermediate spaces between the rear opening and the tail gate which can be connected to a closing part attached to the centre part.
