Process for the production of ammonia synthesis gas

A process is described for the production of ammonia synthesis gas from hydrocarbon-containing starting gases, which are catalytically/autothermally reformed with an oxygen-containing cracked gas and are then subjected to a conversion to give a cracked gas containing carbon dioxide and hydrogen. To simplify the plant which is required for such a process, according to the invention it is proposed that a fraction of the main gas stream is subjected to a multistage pressure swing adsorption plant (PSA plant) arranged in a bypass to the main gas stream and the hydrogen separated during this is returned to the remaining main gas stream, in order by this means to establish the required H2N2 ratio, and that the cracked gas, after conversion, is subjected to a carbon dioxide scrubbing and a methanation.
