<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the loss of energy at a heating furnace, and to heat a sheet bar uniformly, by providing plural movable covers between a group of rough rolling mills and that of finishing mills, and covering the sheet bars by moving the covers upward and downward with the travel of a jointing dolly. CONSTITUTION:Table-rolls 5 are arranged between a group 2 of rough rolling mills and a group 3 of finishing mills, and a portal-type frame 6 is arranged at their outside. Numbers of winches 8 are arranged on a roof-plate 7 of the frame 6, and movable covers 101-10n, having channel-shaped cross-sections respectively, are attached to the tips of ropes 9 of respective winches 8 to cover sheet bars 12. When a jointing dolly 16 travels to joint a preceding sheet bar 12a to a succeeding bar 12b, the movable covers 105-107 are raised by driving the winches 8 so as not to hinder the travel of dolly 16. The convers 105-107 are lowered, after having passed the dolly 16, to cover the sheet bar 12 and prevent the dissipation of heat. Thus, the sheet bar having uniform temperature distribution is obtained.</p> |
