PURPOSE:To decrease the coefft. of dynamic friction of a magnetic recording medium even under severe use conditions by depositing a perfluoroalkyl ester of carboxylic acid on thin ferromagnetic metallic film. CONSTITUTION:The thin film consisting of a ferromagnetic metal is formed on a nonmagnetic base and the perfluoroalkyl ester of carboxylic acid is deposited on the thin film. The compd. expressed by the formula RCOO (CH2)jCkF2k+1 is usable for said ester. In the formula, R is a hydrocarbon group and j>=0,, k>=4. This ester is usable by mixing the same with a known lubricat ing agent. An extreme pressure additive and rust preventive agent may be used in combination therewith. The recording medium which exhibits excellent runnability, wear resistance and durability at and under a high temp. and high humidity or low temp. is thus obtd. |
