<p>The injector fills a container with a liquid or a viscous material, a partic. application being the prepn. of beverages containing solid particles such as pineapple. A pipe feeds the fluid under pressure to a nozzle fitting the neck of the container, the flow through the nozzle being controlled by a cylindrical plug with a knife edge. The internal surface of the nozzle has an axial length of some 25 mm, together with a conicity of approximately one degree, its diameter reducing in the direction of the through flow. The plug slides into the nozzle to cut off the feed to the container with the knife edge scraping the internal nozzle surface to sever solid particle trapped during plug descent. A flow of air through the plug may ensure that material downstream of the plug is swept into the container.</p> |
