Switchgear cabinets of this type preferably consist of a stable framework to which the cabinet wall parts are screwed. At the same time, the framework is used for the fitment of the instrument and assembly boards which are arranged in the space inside the cabinet. Because these parts are attached to the vertical frame parts, the latter must be of suitably stable construction. By means of the present invention, it is intended to construct a switchgear cabinet such that its instrument and assembly boards are supported and held independently of the construction of a framework, so that a relatively light construction of the actual cabinet part can be provided. In this case, the rear wall (4) together with the lower and/or upper end wall (5, 6) are constructed as a closed integral unit which is equipped with folds (7), which point away at right angles, for holding the side parts (8), a self-supporting bracing unit (9) being arranged in the base region in order to absorb the vertical forces originating from the instrument and assembly board (3). <IMAGE>
