The invention relates to an exhaust gas heat exchanger having a central exhaust gas shaft and a tube, which penetrates this shaft, for a heat-absorbing medium, as well as an admixture of exhaust air into the shaft upstream of the heat exchanger. It is the object of the invention to provide such an exhaust gas heat exchanger of high efficiency. It is proposed for this purpose that the tube is provided with an exhaust gas guide (7) which imparts to the exhaust gas a component movement in the direction of the inside of the circumferential surface (9) of the exhaust gas shaft (1), and that the shaft has the entrance opening (14) for the exhaust air on its periphery. It is achieved hereby that the exhaust gas flows onto the inner circumferential surface of the heat exchanger, it being the case that it condenses, on the one hand, and that, on the other hand, water that has already condensed is precipitated on the inner circumferential surface. <IMAGE>
