A multilayer electrode (10) designed for carrying out electrolysis in an aqueous electrolyte and composed of an A layer (11) and a B layer (12) made of metal. The electrode has an elastic seal (15) at its edge zone (14). A plastic interlayer (16), which has a multiplicity of cutouts (17), may be provided between the individual layers (11, 12).
