The straight spindle (2) is threaded and has a dia. greater than the smooth hook section (3). This allows the securing nuts (9,14) to slide freely over the hook and reach the threaded section, after the dowel has been inserted into the cavity wall hole. The retaining clamp (6) is allowed to swing into the locking position. The hook is fitted to the wall without any nuts in place. This allows the user to push it deep into the wall and allow the clamp to swing into position, before pulling it against the wall and fitting the nuts and washer (8).
