PURPOSE:To prepare a novel antibiotic substance KS-202 having the antimicrobial activity against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, by cultivating a mold belonging to the genus Westerdykella. CONSTITUTION:A mold, e.g. Westerdykella multispora KS-202 (FERM-P No.6199), belonging to the genus Westerdykella, and having the ability to produce a novel antibiotic substance KS-202 is inoculated in a nutrient culture medium and cultivated at 3.5-9.5pH, preferably 6.0-7.5pH, 10-40 deg.C, preferably 23-28 deg.C, to collect the novel antibiotic substance KS-202 from the resultant cultivation filtrate. |
